Two weeks. It seemed like Odelia was a little chunkier when she first came out…
She started at 7 lb 15 oz, then dropped to 7 lb 6 oz in about 5 days, and has steadily been gaining weight for a week now. It appears that her steady diet of milk has netted 1 oz a day, as our last weight check on Wednesday put her at 8 lb 5 oz. The pediatrician mentioned that once she reaches her weight, we should let her sleep as much as she wants, but unfortunately that did not provide relief during the wee hours as it did not change our schedule a bit.
She now seems be a little less chunky and more alert.
First it bewildered us that Karen and I would produce such an overweight baby, but a little phone call to my folks revealed that I was over 9 lbs, hence explaining why Odelia was pigging out in Karen’s belly. It appears it was from my side of the family.
Nevertheless, she’s already looking different at 2 weeks. She’s growing up on us already! Pretty soon I’ll be able to teach her how to pick beautiful flowers from the field! We sure got a lot of yellow ones for her…
Nine pounds!??! Better send mom some flowers for mother’s day 🙂
