Carolyn’s One Month Celebration

It seemed like yesterday when Carolyn was born.  She’s now one month old!  Jun and Christine threw a party for this occasion, and it started with great food…

And refreshing drinks…

But the first part of the party, Carolyn needed her beauty sleep…

Even picture time doesn’t wake her!

Eventually she was disturbed, and she wasn’t a happy camper!

I must say, last time we saw Carolyn she was quite small.  Looks like she’s starting to catch up!

Lia also had her first hand-shake with Jujube…

All in all, it was a fun celebration.  Congratulations to Jun and Christine for making it to this 1 month milestone…

Goodbye Home Phone

We’ve tried many times to cut out the monthly recurring home phone charge, now that almost everyone has a cell phone. At one point, we went as far as to schedule cancellation of our Comcast Phone Service, but after calling Karen from my cell phone the next day only to hear ceaseless ringing and voicemail, I abandoned the thought. Karen was pregnant at that time, so it was too important for me to be able to reach her at home at all times.

Now that Odelia is born, once again I investigate home phone alternatives. At first, I thought about getting the VTech Cordless phone with bluetooth convergence:

Essentially it is a cordless phone that acts as a bluetooth headset piped through thephone. It looked stylish, but after research, I found that people have had problems connecting to it. Also, I didn’t want to limit myself to only a few models and be locked into the brand. I wanted a solution that will work with my existing phone. So I found…

XLink Gateway. This little gadget connects up to three cell phones using bluetooth, and this version also connects a landline as well. The nice thing is that our cell phones automatically connect with the XLink gateway, even if it’s still sitting in the pocket of my American Eagle jeans or if the phone is in another room or on a different floor!

Over time, the money we saved from not having a home phone will pay for this device and more, so we’re glad we finally have a way to cut out the home phone once and for all!

My debut entry – life as a mother!!

April 2nd, my life has been changed forever. I am no longer James’ only girl. 🙁 I was kinda worried that James would put all his attention to the baby and I was right, but surprisingly I was OKAY with that. 🙂 It’s still a big adjustment for me though. As a mom, I can’t eat whatever I want.  I can’t have my sushi after the long 9 months of sushi-less diet. I can’t go to the mall whenever I want. I have to watch dairy products ‘cuz we are worried that Lia is like James – Lactose intolerant. I can’t take my 8 hrs beauty sleep at night, but instead, I have to wake up every 3 hrs to feed Lia. My back and arms are always sore. I am always tired and I have vampire eyes, but when I see Lia’s cute little face smiling at me, it makes everything alright. Yes, April 2nd, my life has been changed forever.

Miniseed Migrated To WordPress

For a long time, I’ve tried to create my own web site from scratch and code every line of HTML.  With the addition of a daughter, however, I realized that pursuing activities that take up excessive time, such as programming or playing video games, results in devastating consequences from my other half.  Therefore, I have decided to leverage others’ wonderful web site and build Miniseed on WordPress.  Let me know if there are any problems.  Enjoy!

Fuzzy Due For Annual Exam?

The veternarian who single-handedly squeezed Fuzzy to death decided to milk more money out of us by sending us a reminder that Fuzzy is due for a “wellness exam” a year after he passed away.  Apparently they didn’t realize Fuzzy didn’t make it through his last visit.  This is the Bellevue Center of Veterinary Medicine, which I would recommend that you stay away at all costs unless you’re looking for a Euthanizing Institution.

Crime Scene At My House

WARNING: The following story contains graphic images and can be upsetting. Parental discretion is advised.

When we came home today after running some errands, we unloaded Lia along with the groceries. Next to the garage door, some carpenter ants were crawling. “They’re back?!” I thought to myself. I followed the carpenter ant out of the garage when, to my horror, I saw four corpses sitting in my driveway. These were no ordinary corpses–they were babies! What happened? Did some cruel parent threw their babies out of the window, or did these babies get so hot they lept to their death in the 92 degree heat of the day? Forensic evidence were lacking, as the parents were nowhere to be found and it was difficult contacting any family members.

Currently the case is still open, and we hope someday to unravel this mystery.

Illegal to coast in fast lane even at speed limit

Apparently it is illegal to be driving in the fast lane at speed limit if you’re not passing in Washington, and the troopers are now giving out tickets for this.

What prompted for recent ticketing is to reduce road rage, and slow drivers have caused accidents recently. Might want to be careful the next time you’re driving in the fast lane at 60 with 10 cars tailgating behind ya. You might be getting a ticket for being a slow poke!
